En 2004 el SI, luego de consultar con los comites Internacionales en poliza, desarrollo una posición para el uso en respuesta a muchas preguntas por la media con referencia a matrimonios civiles entre personas del mismo genero . El IEC se dio cuenta de esta posicion pero en ese entonces no vio la necesidad de confirmar esa posicion, en una manera formal. En vista de la continuidad de la discusion en muchos paises con referencia a esto y en orden para asistir las secciones y estructuras que estan preparandose para la RCI 2007, el IEC considera que ayudara si ahora formalmente confirmamos la posicion de Amnesty Internacional
EL IEC DECIDE QUE AMNESTY INTERNACIONAL EN UNA FORMA DE POLIZA, SE OPONE A LA DISCRIMINACION EN UNIONES Y MATRIMONIOS CIVILES CON BASE EN LA ORIENTACION SEXUAL O IDENTIDAD DE GENERO.
In 2004 the IS, after consulting with the International Committee onPolicy, developed a position for use in responding to media requestsregarding civil marriage between people of the same sex. The IEC was madeaware of that position, but at the time did not see a need to confirm thatposition by a formal decision. In view of the continuing and widespreaddiscussion in many countries about this matter, and in order to assistsections and structures preparing for the 2007 ICM, the IEC considered thatit would be helpful if it now formally confirmed AI’s policy.

policy, opposes discrimination in civil marriage laws on
the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
